My father-in-law bought us the Apollo pens for Christmas 2 years ago. They are pretty good pens, but the mouth piece threads strip very easily.
Definitely much safer as they are not a fire hazard. I still smoke regular cigarettes, and you're so right about the ashes getting everywhere....
