Hey, just have a quick question on a charger

Can i charge my unprotected cr2 batterys with a spacer in my tenergy 3v battery charger??? the one i have charges my Tenergy 3.0v CR123A batteries the Lifepo4 ones (Yellow in color) NOT THE BLUE ONES!!!

or do i need to get a diffrent charger??? that would be awesome if i could because i can get some spacers that i believed will fit perfect from the craft store and save a little money at the same time:confused:

  2. I wouldn't I charge mine in there charger thats specific for them. Mine is a Since but heres a link to one
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2031

As always be careful and always check the voltage on your batteries prior to putting in the charger and when you take them out.
I have two sets and always keep the pairs together. I've marked the pairs so they don't get mixed up.

  3. i think that one is a 3.6v one iam looking for a 3v one i was going to get it but it dos't say spacifics but if you look closely at this picture you can see it says 3.6v (this is the charger that your talking about)
you might have to go to there site to veiw it bigger

i was going to get this charger:

but i was just trying to save some money i also had read it somewhere dont remember where but they said you can but i dint trust it at the time now i can find that thread to see if there was any updates of them testing it. but enless someone tells me they do use in for li-on 3v batteries then iam not going to do it and be out of a charger.

    OUTPUT:3.6V-250mA;2*3.6V-250mA

iam just going to get the UltraFire WF-138A Switching Charger..

    thanks for the help Buddy

OMG hold up i just read the back of the charger the tenergy one nthat charges the yellow lifepo4 batteries and it says to only charge li-on batteries in there how did i not see that so that means i can use it to charge my cr2 3v ones right?

i tryed taking a picture of it but i dont have macro and its all blurry but ill type it out exactly what it says on the back the tenergy lifepo4 charger:

    Model: PH-123a-3.0
    INPUT:12.Vd.c. 250mA
    OUTPUT:3.6Vd.c. 360mA
    LED STATUS
    RED LED-CHARGE
RED LED TURN TO GREEN- FULLY CHARGED
    GREEN LED-NO BATTERIES BE DETECTED
    THEN IT SAYS:
"There is a picture of a triangle with a ! in the middle" then it writes:
The charger is intended for use with li-ion batteries only.
Attemt to charge other type of batteries may cause personal injury and damage to charger..

So with it saying this that means i will be able to charge my cr3 3v Li-ion batteries right? of course with a spacer bassed on what this says above right?

No. You must use the charger that came with the batteries.

    "Warning:

You must use the 3.0V RCR123A battery charger included to charge these batteries, please do not use other chargers, include any other 3.0V or 3.6V Li-Ion bttery charger, which can not correctly charge these LiFePO4 750mah 3.0V Li-Ion batteries. Do not charge these batteries in any other charger.

Do not use this charger for any other than the 3.0V LiFePO4 750mah RCR123A Batteries we sell. "

yea i know it says that on the website but why does it say to only charger li-ion batteries on the back of the charger, and i am not charging my lifepo4 batteries with anything else but the charger that came with it but because it says on the back of the charger do not charge anything else other than li-ion batterys in this charger witch the 3v cr2 are li-ion batteries are just wanted to make sure before i tried it because i have read a few people said its fine but i cant find that thread anymore to see if there was any updates..

is it a diffrent chemistry the charger when its chargeing (i know the battery are),also isant a li-ion battery charger a li-ion battery charger as long as you use 3v battery with 3v charger and 3.6/3.7v battery with 3.6/3.7v charger

ill just get the Ultra fire and call it a day its not worth the risk for $10
But iam still curious to know why?
If anyone knows can they explain what is the diffrents between these 2 when they are charging the batteries. arnt they both li-ion chargers

    The Lifepo4 battery charger
    UltraFire WF-138A Switching Charger

I kinda think its a marketing SKEEEEEM!

    Vapoorer,
I have the Tenergy Charger also
    Model PH-123A-3.0A

Next to the triangle mine says
"The charger is suitable for 3.0V
    RCR123A Li-ion batteries only
Attempt to charge other type of
    batteries may cause personal
    injury and damage to charger.

    Personally with
CR2's I use only the charger designed for them

My other batteries Li-ion "Protected" type
18650,RCR123a,14500 I tend to charge in my TrustFire W-139 Multi Charger

I got a 138a too. Works for me. It cuts about at about 3.5.....
I dont know about the tenergy charger, but dont use any charger that puts out high mA like wf-139 (it puts out 450mA)

  11. CarlosMia

    CarlosMia Guest

the tenergy one iam talking about only puts out 360mA

IMHO still to high. Especially on unprotected batts. Try ditching them in the future anyway.....

i thought that was low is it really high? my other charger (trustfire MODEL #TR-001) IS AT 500 mA

I ve heard of some charging CR2s on 450Ma and more for months and had no problems while checking the charge (I used to spend some time on flashlight forums).
But most of them didn't stack them or beat them as hard as someone would with a pv.
Honestly, the main reason I'm telling you not to use a charger with higher Ma on CR2s is because they are pretty Crappy Unprotected batteries. I wouldnt do anything that makes them even more unsafe.
Maybe try looking into getting protected CR2s (they are gonna be a bit longer and might not fit in some mods)

i agree i dont want to take any risks its not wort it . i would have tried to get the protected cr2 but in the mod iam doing the wont fit..uuuhhh:( and plus there sold out i was looking to getg a pair of them just to have

  16. Ya I'm same way, I got some protected CR2s but before they go into any PV I'm going to use and abuse a pair in one of my lights :) I'll feel "safer" that way :)
Keep an eye on the stock tho, they'll get some more....

I just use 3 dimes as a spacer on my charger and it works fine. I got the idea from MadVapes when I ordered protected CR2 batteries from them.

    Id assume wf138
The sellers usually include adapters with them (mine did), but i still ended up putting a big ol spring on one of the terminals.....

P.S. haha we all are in FINE mood :)
