juice dripping down inside my usb PT...

if juice drips down in my PT and i have a short or sumthin, what could happen? ive been trying to keep it dry but it gets pretty damp on the inside of the mod.. i dont wanna fry my computer or anything.. let me kno

 

Well, depends on what kind of passthru you got, some got a protection circut, others I guess not.
Personally I don't plug it into my laptops anymore, just for safety. Its cheaper to get Ac-usb adapter than replacing a board on your computer.
Plus with laptops usb limited to 500mah (most) PCs CPU can support bout 3 times that.
Just get an adapter n you'll have no worries bout your computer

 

im usin a homemade passtthru, so no protection circut, just a switch and led... and im running it off my PC. guess ill go ahead and order an ac-usb adapter to be safe..

Oh and since its home made for now you can just use an ac adapter with 5 volts if you got any of those laying around, Like an old adapter from a router or some other electronic thing.

Oh and if you got a Powered usb hub that might work for now too. They usually put out a tleast 1000mah

 

The ac-usb is a good idea but a short wouldn't be too great there either. You could wire a small fuse in right after the usb male to help protect the pc. ...that is, if the short comes from the switch end or the led.

 

yea actually i have a couple universal ac adapters with voltage selections... theres no 5v option tho, it jumps from 4.5v to 6v... thx 4 the tip, i was wondering if i could use them.

i think my best bet is to rebuild the mod or fix the leakage.. its not too bad tho, just a bit of dampness but i dont wanna risk jackin up my new pc.. my last mod i used just a bit of gorilla glue(100% waterproof) around the batt connector and it doesnt leak at all

 

Good idea to fuse while at it Just which size to use Id have no idea......
