So I'm looking to make my first mod and am going to order all the necessary parts from Madvapes more than likely. I'm looking to do a 5 or 6volt box mod out of a 2xAA box. I've seen it done somewhere and I think they used a TI regulator? Not sure though. Anyways Just looking for a wiring diagram or something to get me going and hopefully my soldering skills will not be put to the test.;)
One more thing....Anyone know offhand a mod I could make using CR123A's? Would two fit in a magnum mod?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
EDIT: Sorry I should have clarified that I would like to use 14500s in the box mod and not 14250s or something. I may do a 10440 box too but not sure yet as I want the super battery life.

I have just what you’re looking for. I’ll give you a link to a walk through for a “Nic-O-Stick”, it is a common first mod and is very easy to make.

BTW, you will have to solder, there’s no escaping that. The only thing you will have to do is connect a Texas Instruments PTN04050C 12-W 3.3/5-V Input Wide Output Adjustable Boost Converter after your switch and before your batter connector. You can get 5 of them free from Texas Instruments if you order samples.

You will also need battery boxes with a cut off switch. I think the following boxes are the best because they have a cut off switch and are easy to open and close.

    You’ll need a momentary switch

I figure you can get batteries and the rest on your own easily enough. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the links and help.
And I know how to solder, due to my Mobile Electronics obsession, I was just hoping that it isn't too difficult because the connections are so tiny.

The TI board you are looking for would be the PTN04050CAZ that is the one that I used at least. The wiring schematic is on the TI.com website under that part number. Yes you can fit 2 rcr123A's in a magnum ifyou extend the guts further up the top slightly hanging out, like 5volt detonator Robert is now doing his detonator mods.

A tip for soldering to the TI board. I bend a tiny loop on the end of a solid wire. (I use solid wire as a preference.) Tin the wire and the loop will hold a small amount of solder due to the shape. I use the helping hands with the alligator clips and hold that wire right at the connection point on the board and All I have to do is hit it with the iron until the solder takes. It has worked very well for me on a few mods so far.

Good luck with the modding, and be sure to let us know how it is working out for you.
