Started out with a little mini aluminum LED pocket light, designed for 1-AA or 14500. Perfect :) Pulled oout the LED module, stripped the PCB's, mounted 510 in place of the LED. Replaced the high-power LED with a standard one for power indicator. Vapes like mad :) and it's small enough to hide in your hand. Recessed connector. My smallest batty mod yet. Cool!!! ;) This is fun.

It was such a nice little light I almost didn't mod it. I will have to order another I guess :)

  2. That is a neat little mod, you seem to really enjoy doing this...but it's easy to enjoy something when you're good at it and the results are so nice. :p(insert obvious jealousy here,,,my one attempt..ehhh not so good):( I do enjoy seeing what you are up to.

  3. Where did you get the flashlight? How much was it?

That's the neat part: it is a Cree C3 clone (at least from the price I think it's a clone) .. search ebay for "3w 1AA Torch" and you will find them .. from HK for 2-3 bucks buy it now (or less if you want to play the bidding game) (shipping included) .. it's a 3-piece aluminum alloy flashlight, built for 1AA cell, a protected 14500 fits just fine. It includes a small voltage booster circuit (I put in a 1.5v Alk AA and tested the output voltage: about 3.5v unloaded, about 2.5 with a load) .. put in a 14500 and the unloaded output was about 12v, under load I am guessing about 5-6V. Since I was not sure about the circuit current capacity, I pulled all the components off the little PCB and rewired it. I think I will get more of them and experiment with the voltage booster.

Here are pics of my other one (I got 2) both assembled and disassembled. Total length: 3-7/8", diameter: 3/4" od

I am gonna order some more, this is a nice little pocket light in it's own right.

Maybe I'm a bit slow but......... One more thing I just discovered: there is a butt switch (click on/click off) .. but in addition, there is a mechanical twisty switch built into the body: tighten to turn on / loosen slightly to turn back off. Can do it one-handed. WOW!!! I'm ordering more of these babies :)

That's awesome man, thanks for the info. I'm going to pick one of these up to make use of my 14500 batteries. I have always wanted to see the twist functionality as a potentiometer for variable voltage.
